Child
- Simon Revere Mouer III

Observe the sacred
in sorrow
for lover no longer bound

Who has missed
the freedom of youth,
Gone the marital curiosity
amongst stale years
of struggle
to please demands of family

Return the search of ego

And I,
my lover's hand

~

This poem is about me watching the breakup of my parents marriage.  I and my siblings were children almost grown as the breakup unfolded, though it had been, I suppose, simmering for years.  The last two lines are me, looking at them as from afar as if watching the last act of a play, then turning away to search for my own love, hopefully more successfully.
